BENGALURU (Metro Rail News): Electronics City Industrial Township Authority (ELCITA) is planning to introduce a Metro Neo network that will connect two upcoming stations on Yellow Line (RV Road-Bommasandra) and companies for last-mile connectivity. This Metro Neo is a trolleybus system with overhead electric traction which can run on elevated or at-grade cement roads.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic around 11 lakh people travelled to E-City for work daily and it was a major discomfort because there is no last-mile connectivity between the metro stations and offices. According to the sources Electronics City Metro Neo is likely to be called Tech-Halli Express. This metro neo is likely to have a 5-km network in the first phase with 10 stations that are Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara Station, Timken, Velankani, 3M India, Phase-3, Wipro, Infosys, Interflex Electronics, Happiest Minds, Electronics City Metro Station. The electric trolley bus has a capacity of 250 passengers and can run at a speed of 60kmph.

  1. Nice. We need similar concept for Airport metro as well, especially after Jakkur. Here, the station frequently is less.
