
Lucknow: The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) on yesterday got clearance from the Public Investment Board (PIB), Government of India. This now paves way for LMRC to get funds for Metro project from the Central Government and also from foreign funding agencies.
In a meeting today at New Delhi before the Board which was chaired by Secretary (Department of Expenditure), Ministry of Finance, Government of India; Shri Alok Ranjan, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Chairman/LMRC along with Shri Sadakant, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Planning Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director/LMRC apprised the Board on the details of Lucknow Metro Rail project.
Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director/LMRC, made a presentation on the status and progress of the Metro project and its recent updates which was appreciated by the Public Investment Board (PIB). The Board finally gave its clearance to the Lucknow Metro Rail project.
LMRC has achieved the distinction of being the fastest Metro construction ever been undertaken in the country as the rate of progress of the civil infrastructure works is tremendous ever since the work began in September, 2014. Lucknow Metro is committed to complete the 8.5 km priority Metro section from Transport Nagar to Charbagh by December, 2016.
