
Patna: Chinese consul general, Kolkata, MA Zhanwu on Thursday called on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and informed him about the plans of Chinese companies to invest in the state.

Officials at CM’s secretariat said Zhanwu informed Nitish about the Chinese investors’ keen interest in areas of art and culture, tourism, agriculture and basic infrastructure development. Zhanwu was accompanied by vice-consul general Wang Xiang.
During interaction with the Chinese diplomat, Nitish informed him about the steps taken by Bihar government to develop basic infrastructure and industry. Nitish welcomed the decision of Chinese companies to invest in areas of art and culture, tourism, agriculture and basic infrastructure. At the same time, Nitish sought cooperation of Chinese companies in the areas of energy and skill development. The consul general also extended the invitation of governor of Shaanxi province to Nitish to visit China.
The Chinese diplomats are in Bihar for the last four days and had interaction with governor Ram Nath Kovind and a number of industrialists of the state. An interactive session was also organized for the consul general with the business community by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Bihar chapter. The consul general also visited Bodh Gaya.
Officials in Chinese consulate said many companies in China had good experience in implementation of metro rail projects, and they would be happy to join hands with Bihar government for Patna Metro project. Nitish has recently cleared the metro rail project and asked the urban development and housing department of the state to get approval from the Centre.
