BANGALORE (Metro Rail News): In a historical first, Southern Railways will run an overnight service of Vande Bharat from Bangalore to Chennai on 21st November 2023.
Timing
This semi-high-speed service would be from 11 PM on Tuesday to 4:30 AM on Wednesday. The train will run between the Chennai Central Station and SMVT, Bangalore. It will be covering the distance between the two in 5.30 hours.
The train will leave SMVT Bangalore today at 5:15 PM to reach Chennai Central at 10 PM, the very same day.
Why overnight?
Generally, overnight trains with Sleeper & AC Coaches are instituted to ease the holiday rush during the peak days, while Vande Bharat, comprising only Semi-sleeper seats, will be a new introduction in this lot.
Passenger’s Reaction
SR is running this service to gauge the reaction among the public. Further overnight services of Vande Barat on this route will be solely decided by Public reaction to this new service. Check if vande Bharat trains can be run in the upcoming holiday season to ease the rush.
Other Services
Southern Railways already runs two Vande Bharat, two Shatabdi Express, One Double Decker and 2 Express trains between Bangalore & Chennai. Last week 4, special services of Vande Bharat trains were run between Chennai, Egmore & Tirunelveli to ease the traffic rush.
