
NAVI MUMBAI (METRO RAIL NEWS): State-run town planning authority CIDCO on Friday conducted a successful trial run on a Navi Mumbai metro rail stretch near Taloja Depot. The corporation claimed that it was “successful in all respects”.
CIDCO has promised to launch the train services between Kharghar and Taloja stations by December this year and The metro trial run was on an 850-metre stretch with the speed of the coach kept at 65 kilometres per hour.
“Today, we conducted a test run of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 between Stations 7 to 11. CIDCO is doing its best to commission Phase 1 this financial year, despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown,” said Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Managing Director, CIDCO Ltd.
“Cidco is striving to complete the metro project within the stipulated time. As the trial on line-1 has been conducted successfully, the metro will soon run on this line,” he added.
CIDCO had appointed Maha Metro in Jan 2021 to complete the remaining works of Phase 1 of Navi Mumbai Metro which was delayed due to multiple reasons. However, CIDCO will continue as the project proponent and the Maha Metro team will execute the project. For this, Maha Metro has deployed over 20 engineers with their site office set-up at Taloja Depot.
The tender for the balance civil work is already floated last month. The scope of work includes design (part) and construction of balance works of Concrete & Fabricated Steel Structures, Architectural works, Plumbing and Sewerage etc. of 6 (Six) of Elevated Metro Stations at Kharghar Village, Kendriya Vihar, Utsav Chowk, Belpada, RBI Colony & Belapur Terminal Station for Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1
Navi Mumbai Metro’s Line 1 is part of the mass rapid transit system for the city of Navi Mumbai. CIDCO receives the delivery of eight 3-coach trainsets from Chinese rail coach manufacturer CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. on May 15, 2020. The 23.40 km line consists of 20 metro stations from Belapur to Khandeshwar. It is expected to cost Rs 4,163 crore.
