Lucknow: Dr. E. Sreedharan, Principal Advisor to Lucknow Metro, who was on a review visit to Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) today, presented a prototype of Metro travel Smart Card to Shri Akhilesh Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh.

Named ‘Go Smart’ – this smart card will serve the purpose of token free travel in LMRC for Metro commuters. It will be a contactless card which will have to be shown at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates by the passengers while entering or exiting from the Metro system.

Lucknow Metro’s ‘Go Smart’ card will also serve as ‘Common Mobility Card’ in future as it can be integrated with 28 different agencies for passenger’s mobility need within the city. Metro users can also use this card while travelling in City Buses and UPSRTC once these systems are integrated.

Moreover, this card can also be used in other Metro systems being planned in cities such as Kanpur and Varanasi. LMRC has always desired to provide a hassle-free travel/journey to its commuters and this is the opportune way for Lucknow Metro to leverage this facility to its daily commuters for travelling in a very smart, convenient and hassle-free environment.

Immediately after his arrival at the Lucknow Airport this morning, Dr. E. Sreedharan oversaw the civil construction work en-route Lucknow Metro office to Gomti Nagar. Afterwards, he took a review meeting of the progress of the Lucknow Metro Rail Project. Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, LMRC, briefed him about the latest project activities being undertaken for swift completion of the 8.5 km ‘Priority Corridor’ between Transport Nagar and Charbagh.

The ‘Metroman’ took an update of the Rolling Stock (Metro Train) manufacturing being undertaken at Sri City, Chennai after the recent inspection by a team of LMRC under the leadership of Shri Kumar Keshav, MD/LMRC, on 26th July, 2016. He also took an update of the track lying and traction works including the work undergoing in the Transport Nagar Depot. The Principal Advisor further inquired about the start of Lift & Escalator installation work at Metro Stations.

The Principal Advisor was very happy and satisfied with the progress of all the works of the Lucknow Metro Rail Project and congratulated the LMRCL Team under the leadership of Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director. He lauded the efforts of the whole team and asked them to keep marching ahead with the same momentum.

Dr. E. Sreedharan also expressed this happiness to Shri Akhilesh Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh, and briefed him that Lucknow Metro Rail Project is ‘ahead of its schedule’ on many fronts and the Corporation would be able to commission the trial runs of the 8.5 km ‘priority corridor’ by 1st December, 2016.
