Noida: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) received first train for the Noida-Greater Noida Metro Aqua line which reached the Greater Noida depot on Thursday.

According to NMRC Officials, the four-coach train will be formally unveiled for a first look on December 18, 2017 by the Managing Directors of NMRC, Alok Tandon. DMRC Chief Mangu Singh will also present in inauguration ceremony. First trials for the corridor are expected to start from the end of the month.

The first train of the 29.7 km Noida-Greater Noida Metro corridor was dispatched from CRRC Nanjing, China for Mundra port in Gujarat on November 2, 2017 and from there, the train was rolled out by road to the Greater Noida depot.

P D Upadhyay, General Manager (Finance) and Spokesperson for Noida Metro Rail Corporation said, “The train arrived at 5am on Thursday at the depot. It will now be checked and examined for its fittings and any damages to body during transit, after which it will be set aside for power generation. Officials from CRRC Nanjing Corporation Limited, a Chinese rolling stock manufacturer who is supplying the trains to DMRC for the corridor, have been stationed at the depot to ensure smooth transition of the train from the depot to the trial track. On December 18, we are likely to put the train on test track within the depot for a week before we launch the trials for the corridor.”

“The first trial runs of the corridor will be launched from Greater Noida across 6 km, from the Depot station to Knowledge Park station across six stations. These trials are likely to last for nearly two months.”, He further added.

“Electrical and mechanical work for the corridor is 60% complete and 65% of the track has been laid along the nearly 30 km viaduct. Signalling work is also 60% complete. Structural work on all the 21 stations is also complete and finishing work is being carried out. The power sub-station in Sector 148 will go live by end of December. This sub-station will energise the entire Aqua line, while the 21 stations will be powered by 10 megawatt solar energy generated by roof-top panels.”, Upadhyay said during interaction with Media.

The Noida Metro Aqua line is scheduled to launch in April 2018.
