HYDERABAD (Metro Rail News): The Municipal Administration Department, as part of its continued effort to enhance Telangana’s infrastructure, is gearing up to build a metro rail connection between Raidurg and Hyderabad International Airport.

Additionally, the department plans to build an Elevated Bus Rapid Transit System (EBRTS) from KPHB to Kokapet, as well as 15 bridges over the Musi River and also lay a 21-km cycle track on ORR with solar-covered roofing. It will be a 4.5-meter wide track between the main carriageway and service road from Nanakramguda to TSPA and Narsingi to Kollur covered with solar panels. The loop will be 42 kilometres long.

According to K T Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), these projects were to have been grounded last year but for Covid-19 and lack of funds. On Friday, the Minister released the annual report of MAUD for 2021-22 along with Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar and others.

Telangana is one of the three most urbanized states in the country, after Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the Minister said on the occasion. Moreover, he said, the state has one of the fastest-growing urban economies in the country.
