Uttarakhand Metro project got approval for extensive Mobility Plan

The capacity of ropeway will have to carry around 10 passengers. The projects will reach around 20-25 km and supposed to cost up to Rs 2200 cr.


UTTARAKHAND (Metro Rail News): The extensive Mobility Plan of the Uttarakhand Metro project got approval from Uttarakhand govt, by making the system for ropeway projects in Dehradun, Rishikesh along with Haridwar to facilitate commuters.

On Thursday in a meeting of the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority, CM Trivendra Singh Rawat permitted for the metro project. As per the officials, a DPR for the ropeway system is being made with the Delhi Metro Rail Co for Dehradun city.

Along with this the state govt also approved the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) project for the construction in Haridwar city with the construction work of Metro Light in Haridwar to Rishikesh and Nepali Farm to Vidhan Sabha Corridor.

Uttarakhand Metro Rail MD, Jitendra Tyagi gave a comprehensive presentation on Dehradun, Haridwar & Rishikesh MetroLite System in which he also shared a report about the route plan study for the metro project from Haridwar-Rishikesh, Dehradun-Nepali Farm.

Uttarakhand had confirmed a contract with DMRC for the ropeway projects, in Dec the last yr. The 1st instalment of Rs 43.30 lakh was also awarded to DMRC on that time. Madan Kaushik, State urban development minister signed the contract had stated that when finished the ropeway system will facilitate the traffic problems in Dehradun.

Madan Kaushik further added that till date the ropeway system is not being utilised as a mode of mass transport at any other place in India. Dehradun will be the 1st city to adopt this system.

There are two routes have been submitted for Dehradun city, one from Forest Research Institute – Rispana Bridge by Clock Tower and the 2nd one from ISBT – Madhuban Hotel by Clock Tower.

  1. Combination of metro n ropeway is ideal for reducing road congestions. Especially on hills where land slide leading to resultant impact disturb ecological balance and de-forest. Inadvertantly, sky walk has 3 available modes. Ropeway with end to end terminal. To make it economical, bus load like 60+ per cable(5MT), speed 60kmph is the need. 🙏2🙏 Our PSU was awarded 1.27cr for 1km(1984) and about 10cr for 4.25 km with intermediate halt(T10) in (1994) from the then UP Hills. Imagine, realising safety, quality, Scheduled maintenance with 100% fail safe global technology is shot sure mechanism inviting FDI. It’s proved, worked successfully, incidents but no accidents in last 35 yrs.
