GUJARAT (Metro Rail News): Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) released technical bids on Thursday and 7 companies—three of which are consortia—have filed bids for the Surat Metro Phase 1 project for 750 V DC Third Rail electrification system.

Phase 1 of Surat’s 40.35 km is made up of two lines and 37 stops. Early this summer, financial bids for the final civil packages went out, with Line-1’s 11.6-kilometer Dream City Depot – Kadarsha ni Nal section receiving top consideration.

GMRC invited tenders for this major systems contract, financed by Agence française de développement (AFD), in February 2022 with an unknown estimate and deadline

  • The seven bidders are KPTL – Gulermak JV, KEC International, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Linxon India, RVNL – Siemens JV, Sterling and Wilson (SWPL), TEECL – ABL JV

Invitation for bids number is GMRCL/TR/ST/EP-1/2022

The works include Supply, Erection, Testing, and Commissioning of Power Supply receiving & Distribution System, 750 V DC Third Rail Traction electrification, and SCADA System for Surat Metro Rail Project phase-I.

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation, which could take a few months. The financial bids of the technically qualifying bidders will next be opened to disclose the lowest bidder, who is most likely to be the contractor.
