Best Ways to Spend Your Time in Metro

Riding a metro is a daily occurrence for many Indians. Every day 1.5 million passengers ride the New Delhi metro alone, as it is fast, safe, efficient, cheap, and incredibly convenient. But, despite all this, riding a metro can be quite boring, especially if you do it every day. In this article, we bring you several ideas on what to do while waiting to get to your destination.

Play Mobile Games

This is, hands down, the most common way to spend time in a metro. Find an app or two you like, and play them whenever you are riding to school, work, or visit a family member. We suggest you try some relaxing and non-violent games. For instance, you can spin some slots on brands from list of Microgaming online casinos for Indians play hidden mystery games, dress up your model for the fashion competition, or create an imaginary cricket team. And who knows, maybe you will need a helping hand from the passenger sitting next to you to finally finish that level you have been playing for weeks.

Listen to Some Music

Get some high-quality headphones and listen to your favorite music. Please, don’t be that passenger that is playing music so everyone can hear, but keep your volume at a lower level. Don’t hesitate to tap your feet, swing your hips from time to time or nod your head – you might feel silly, but we guarantee everyone in the train will smile at you and your good mood, even if it’s 6 AM and you are on your way to work. You can also create different playlists for different occasions. For instance, in the morning listen to upbeat pop, on the way home choose some relaxing music, and if you are angry at your boss – play some loud heavy metal, and look dangerous doing it. Just don’t start any fights!

Read a Book

Indians are champions of reading, as they read more than other nations. While the average Indian ready 10 hours per week, the average Brit dedicates only 5 hours of his time to books. To keep this record going, grab a book and read on a train. Keep up with the theme, and read the bestselling The Girl on the Train, a 2015 psychological thriller novel by British author Paula Hawkins, or imagine you are riding the Hogwarts Express while rereading the Harry Potter series. And to spice things up, pick up some biographies by famous Indians and be surprised and fascinated by their real life adventures. After all, real life writes the best plots.

Take a Nap

Take it from Japanese, and simply take a nap. While it is not uncommon to see construction workers, teenagers, and students dozing off, most people still hesitate to nap in a metro. Of course, you don’t have to take a real nap: sometimes just closing your eyes, and letting your imagination go wild can be quite relaxing. And if you are afraid you will fall asleep and miss your station, simply write your station on a piece of paper and attach it to your jacket or bag.

Catch Up with Friends and Relatives

Nowadays, we are all so busy we forget to reply to our favorite auntie asking how we are doing or to wish a happy birthday to our childhood friends. Make commute time your chat time, by sending a simple message to a friend or relative you have forgotten about due to all the obligations and hectic schedule. Just a simple “Hi, how are you’” can make someone’s day, and who knows, maybe you’ll finally meet for a cup of coffee or tea – something you two have been planning to do for a few months, but haven’t got the time for.

Think Up Stories

This is a fun one! Take a closer look at that bearded guy reading a comic book to his son. What is their story? And how about that couple that isn’t talking to each other, but sits quietly? Maybe they were in a fight or they broke up after she decided to marry the acrobat and will now live in a circus? And that couple of strangers throwing glances at each other – we bet it’s the beginning of an amazing love story worthy of a Bollywood movie. We can go on and on, but you get the picture. Be imaginative and creative, and the more obscure scenarios and storylines – the better.

Do the Math Count stations, tiles, seats, women wearing white tops, and men wearing blue shirts. Are there more people carrying laptops, or groceries? Counting is fun and if you really get into it, you can create your own daily silly statistics. They won’t have much scientific value, but you never know.
