Specifics of the Contract
The value of the contract amounts to Rs 137.86 Crore with a completion deadline of 810 days or 2.2 years. The contract is to be operationalised on the 44.6 Km long Pink line of the Chennai metro running between Madhavaram and Sholinganallur

The scope of the contract involves Supply, installation, testing, commissioning and training of electrical, fire protection, and VAC works for 22 Elevated Stations from Koyambedu Market Metro to Elcot Park Metro, including Viaduct between the stations for Corridor-5 of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, Phase-II

The contract scope entails system works at 22 elevated stations and viaducts between Koyambedu Market and Elcot Park stations.
Bids Invited
Bids for the same were invited in February 2023, for which the bidders were declared in June 2023, while financial and evaluation took months, and the contract was finally awarded to Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services Ltd, a subsidiary of Voltas.
Chennai Metro, Phase 2
Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro Project pitches for a 118.9 km Network consisting of 3 corridors, namely:
- Corridor 3: Madhavaram to SIPCOT (45.8 Km)
- Corridor 4: Lighthouse to Poonamalle Bypass (26.1 Km)
- Corridor 5: Madhavaram to Sholinganallur (45 Km)
Currently, 37 out of the 61 packages, encompassing Civil, Track, and System components for Corridor 3, Corridor 4, and Corridor 5, have been granted, and construction is underway. The project is scheduled for completion by the conclusion of 2026.
