DELHI (Metro Rail News): The Delhi government is accepting applications for the position of managing director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which will be vacant once incumbent Mangu Singh’s term ends on March 31. In September of last year, Singh’s term as DMRC MD was extended till March 31. However, Singh had already been granted many extensions.
The DMRC MD is a Delhi government nominee. Seventeen directors, including a chairman, govern the DMRC. It has five candidates with equal stakes in the DMRC from the Centre and the Delhi government. The Delhi government appoints the managing director.
The applicant for the position of MD must be at least 45 years old, according to an advertisement published by the Delhi government’s Transport department. The maximum age for external candidates is 58 years and for internal candidates is 60 years.
MDs are allowed to retire at the age of 65. It stated that the MD retires at the end of a five-year term or at the age of 65, whichever comes first.

Singh took over as DMRC’s MD on January 1, 2012, after his predecessor E Sreedharan stepped down on December 31, 2011. The deadline for submitting the application is March 4.
