NEW DELHI, INDIA (Metro Rail News): The ‘Metro Rail with the Best Passenger Services and Satisfaction’ award went to the Delhi Metro. According to the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, Delhi was named the most delicate non-motorized transportation system for the rehabilitation project of Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation.

“We are glad to inform you that the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has awarded Delhi Metro the ‘Award for Excellence in Urban Transport’ in the category ‘Metro Rail with the Best Passenger Services and Satisfaction.’

“Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, presented Dr. Mangu Singh, MD, DMRC with the award today at the 14th Urban Mobility India Conference 2021 in Delhi,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation stated in a tweet.

Surat was recognized for having the most effective public transportation system, while Indore was recognized as having the ‘City with the Most Innovative Financing Mechanism.’ Kochi, on the other side, received an award for having the best environmentally friendly transportation system. Nashik was named the ‘City with the Best Record of Public Participation in Transportation Planning.’

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri presented the awards during the Urban Mobility India conference. E-rickshaw services connecting the Noida Electronic City metro station with the surrounding areas were launched by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) yesterday.

In collaboration with ETO, the DMRC plans to launch a fleet of 25 e-rickshaws. From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., it will cover the areas around Noida Electronic City Metro Station. Women drivers will be hired to operate these e-rickshaws, according to the DMRC.
