NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): On Saturday, the managing director of Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML), NVS Reddy, travelled to Delhi Airport Metro to observe its operations and facilities.
Senior officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) joined the MD and his team as they were transported to the underground Metro station on the airport grounds. The facilities and procedures for baggage transfer to and from the airport were examined.
Then, the group took the Metro to the New Delhi station. The check-in area on the city side was also investigated at the New Delhi station. Officials noted how passengers’ checked baggage was carried from airline counters into containers resting on rollers. The containers were then sealed and automatically rolled into the coach’s luggage area on rollers.
The Delhi Airport Metro line, which has eight stations and a total length of 23 km (16 km underground and 7 km elevated), links the airport to New Delhi’s railway and metro stations. This journey is reached in 19 minutes when travelling at a maximum speed of 95 kmph and an average speed of roughly 65 kmph. The officials said that each container had a distinct RFID tag attached, which allowed the SCADA system to trace the transit of the containers from the city’s Metro station to the airport. According to the officials, bags for passengers were transported safely and on time by the Metro station to the airport, where they were checked into the appropriate planes.
Shivaji Park station and New Delhi Metro stations offer these city check-in services. At least two hours before takeoff, travellers must check their bags at one of these two stations. Once checked in, travellers can take the Metro to the airport, where they only need to go through security to board their flights.
