Kochi: People across the India celebrates successful Anniversary of Kochi Metro with various program at Kochi on Sunday. A music concert held at Maharaja’s Metro station, Celebrates festival by cutting a huge cake with Kochi Metro Rail Ltd at Edappally Metro Station and People residents, commuters, people’s representatives. In evening cultural program were celebrated at various station. Commuters also got the opportunity to show their talent, Magics were also performed by Muthukad.
Journey of Kochi Metro
The construction of Kochi metro has been laid by our one of the Prime Minister of India on September 2012, 2013 by Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL). It is a 50-50 joint venture between Central Government and State Government. Total  length of Kochi Metro is 25 km. Which was constructed in two phase, first phase which was 13.4 km from Aluva to Palarivattom and the second one consist 5 km from Palarivattom to Maharaj’s college stadium. Kochi metro provides more job opportunity for people residing in kochi and also enhance the transportation facilities to commuters of Kochi. Kochi metro took four year of time in completion of Kochi project, the most interesting fact of completion period was that after completing the project it became one fastest completion of metro project of India, until Lucknow metro over took it.

How is Kochi Metro different from others:
In India Metro transportation has been carrying out from 1984 of Kolkata Metro. In different parts of India, Metro services were built with new technologies but Kochi Metro has some of the unique features which other Metro do not have, Some of they are:
- Construction Completion time of Kochi metro was fastest until Lucknow Metro overtook it.
- This is the first Metro Rail which connects Rail road and water transport facilities.
- It was named as best Urban Mobility project in India by Urban development Minister.
- It has adopted a single card as well as regular ticket.
The commercial operator of Kochi metro has been completed successfully on 17 June. From the starting day of metro the average number of passengers has been increased even sometimes it reached to double and thrice the average number of passenger, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

In a complete one year journey of Kochi Metro the biggest achievement was brought from incurred loss of Rs 6 crore to 3 crore in first of six month, Chief Minister said on his facebook post.
