NOIDA(Metro Rail News): The Greater Noida metro has achieved new single-day ridership record of 40,295 passengers, in a single day, setting a new record since operations began in January 2019, according to officials.
The achievement was made on August 8, the second Monday of the month, according to representatives of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC).
The Aqua Line saw 40,295 passengers on Monday. The second-highest single-day ridership so far was 39,451, managing director of NMRC, Ritu Maheshwari stated.
The metro, which connects the twin towns of Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar district adjoining Delhi, has witnessed an upward trend in ridership over the past few months.
According to NMRC data, the number of riders each day on average was 23,266 in March this year, 26,162 in April, 29,089 in May, 30,366 in June, and 32,202 in July. Maheshwari stated that the NMRC is making a number of steps to give commuters improved services.
“Recently, the NMRC floated an expressions of interest for giving passengers with last-mile connectivity. The deadline for submitting an EoI is August 18,” she stated. Additionally, a footbridge to link Sector 51 (Aqua Line) and Sector 52 (Blue Line) metro stations is planned.
The IAS officer predicted that the calls for the tenders for the FoB between Sectors 51 (NMRC) and 52 (DMRC) will be released soon.
