Ahmedabad: Metro Link for Gandhinagar and Ahmadabad (MEGA) today announced that Siemens will implement the electrification of metro rail project. The MEGA Metro Authority has granted a contract order of approximately Rs. 579 crore (76.04 million euros) for the consortium of Siemens Limited India and Siemens AG, Germany, for the electrification of the 39.2 kilometer Metro Express Link in Ahmedabad.

The line, currently under construction, will be executed in the city of Ahmedabad in two corridors. Siemens will be responsible for the complete electrification of the new double-track Metro line. Siemens will also provide a SCADA system (monitoring and data acquisition control) to monitor and control the traction power.
