HYDERABAD (Metro Rail News): MetroRide which is the artificial intelligence (AI) enabled ride-hailing mobility platform, has launched electric auto services for Hyderabad Metro Rail to provide first and last-mile connectivity.

The e-auto service was launched on Thursday besides Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (LTMRHL) and with support from WRI India (World Resources Institute) and UK charity Shell Foundation. The event was held at the Parade Ground Metro Rail station and the services will also be available at Raidurg. The e-auto facility will be extended to other stations in the coming days.

These e-rickshaws will provide connectivity to the areas within a 5-km radius of the Parade Ground and Raidurg stations, and the minimum charge for the ride will be Rs 10. As per a statement, a survey was conducted which showed that 38 per cent of those who do not use the Metro Rail services stay away because of the lack of an affordable, accessible and reliable first and last-mile service from the metro stations. This new service is launched to rectify the problem and aims to serve one million customers in the first year.

Speaking at the launch event, N.V.S. Reddy, MD, HMRL said, “Improving the first and last mile connectivity is an important goal for us. We believe that providing these electric auto services would have a positive socio-economic impact to all stakeholders and make the journey more comfortable for Metro Rail users.”
