NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): PM Narendra Modi today inaugurated India’s first RAPIDX train named Namo Bharat from Sahibababd Station. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh & Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs at the event.
Prime Minister flagged off the train at 10:00 AM this morning. Along with this, PM also launched the commuter App- a companion for seamless commuting in Namo Bharat trains. It will serve as a single platform for digital ticket booking, station navigation & trip planning. The trains were renamed Namo Bharat on 19th October 2023, a day before the inauguration.
The Namo Bharat trains will run at a maximum speed of 180 kmph, costing around Rs 20- Rs 50 for standard coaches & Rs 50- Rs 100 for premium Coaches. The trains would run at a frequency of a train every 15 minutes that can even be brought down to 5 minutes, depending on the demand.
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is being built at a cost of Rs 30,000 crore. The priority corridor inaugurated by PM Modi spans 17 Km with five stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guildhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.
