Pune Metro takes a first trial run between twin cities

PUNE (Metro Rail News):  Pune Metro has a total length of 33.2 km comprising two lines Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Station (PCMC) to Swargate Station (17 km) and Vanaz Station to Ramwadi Station (16 km). Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Station (PCMC) to Phugewadi (7 km) and Vanaz to Garware College (5 km) routes were inaugurated on 6 March 2022 by the hands of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and opened to the public. Overall 85% of the work has been completed and the work of the remaining 21 km stretch is going in full swing, and it will be opened to the public in a few months.

Recently, Pune Metro successfully completed trial runs from Garware College Station to Civil Court Interchange elevated Station and Range hill Station to Civil Court Interchange Underground Station. On 31st Dec 2022, the metro train started the trial run from Phugewadi station at 10:00 hrs crossing Dapodi station, Bopodi station, Khadki station, Range hill station and Shivajinagar station, it reached the Civil Court underground station at 11:20 Hrs. The duration of this trial run was approximately 45 minutes. Also, the second trial run from the Civil Court station elevated station started at 11:20 am and the metro train reached the Vanaz elevated station at 11: 45 Hrs covering a distance of 25 mts for this test. Both these tests were carried out as planned and scheduled.

The trial run covered a total length of 15 kms (Phugewadi Station to Civil Court Underground Station – 8 km and Civil Court (Elevated Station) to Vanaz (Elevated Station) – 7 km). On 31st December trial run marks the first metro train run between the twin cities of Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune. The route from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Station (PCMC) to Swargate Station will connect these two twin cities through the ‘Mass Rapid Transit System‘. In both these cities, a large number of people travel back and forth for jobs or work.

The metro service will provide fast, comfortable, and safe urban transport to these citizens. Also, with the completion of the test on the elevated route from Civil Court (elevated station) to Vanaz station, this route can be started in the next few months. Therefore, the citizens will be benefited to a large extent. For the citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad, Khadki, Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Jungli Maharaj Road, Fergusson College Road (No. Gopal Krishna Gokhale Road), Garware College, Nal Stop, Vanaz etc. It will be possible to go to the place by metro.

On this occasion, the Managing Director of Mahametro Dr Brijesh Dixit said, “On 31st December trial run from Phugewadi Station to Civil Court Interchange elevated station is a historic moment for both the cities of Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune. The twin cities of Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune will be connected by Metro and in the coming months, travel between the twin cities from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation station (PCMC) to Civil Court Interchange station will be possible. Overall 85% of Pune Metro work has been completed and the rest of the work will be completed in the coming months.”
