Service between Kochi Metro’s Petta and SN Junction to start in June

Once the services are extended to SN Junction, the city will have a total of 24 metro stations.

KOCHI (Metro Rail News): The service between Kochi Metro‘s Petta and SN Junction is expected to start in June, according to officials as they are gearing up for trial runs from the end of this month. Meanwhile, the construction of the stations on the Vadakkekotta and SN Junction stretch is going to complete soon.

The speed trials on the tracks have been completed however the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner’s final inspection is expected to be held in May. The officials said that the fire inspection of Vadakkekotta and SN Junction stations is scheduled for the last week of April. This Petta-SN Junction stretch is being implemented directly by Kochi Metro Rail Ltd whereas the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was in charge of the first phase till Petta. 

Once the services are extended to SN Junction, the city will have a total of 24 metro stations. Meanwhile, the work under Phase 1 (B) extension from SN Junction to Tripunithura is also moving forward. About 85 per cent of land acquisition for this stretch has been completed and almost 68 per cent of the piling work for the new Metro station and 30 per cent work for track construction have been completed.
